I am a dynamic, friendly, helpful and extremely knowledgeable lecturer, teacher and tutor of Chemistry, with a PhD and many years experience of teaching in outstanding sixth form colleges in the North West of England. I love teaching and tutoring students all over the country, and this is reflected in my fresh, engaging and comprehensive programme of sessions.
I started my career working in industry; designing and manufacturing anti-cancer pharmaceuticals. I am now a university lecturer and teacher of A-level Chemistry and have taught and managed departments in several outstanding sixth form colleges in the North West. I have been instrumental in the improvement of results in these colleges, and love to help students reach their full potential. I have designed and run MDV (medicine, dentistry and veterinary) programmes and facilitated many students to successfully apply to study these courses at university.
My approach is based around in-depth knowledge of the requirements of different A-level Chemistry specifications. In addition to this my teaching methods have been devised around up-to-date research into the science of learning, helping me to create a simple 4-step model of improvement, which has had a huge impact on student outcomes! Step 1) consolidate your knowledge, Step 2) test your knowledge, Step 3) apply your knowledge, Step 4) reflect on the marks obtained to find gaps in your knowledge in order to improve!
