Jon has been instrumental in making my son actually enjoy A Level Politics - it was the one lesson he really looked forward to and Jon's tutoring style suited him perfectly. Regardless of the result in August, Jon has been absolutely amazing and would recommend him to everyone!

This was the first time I used First Tutors to find a Government and Politics tutor for my younger sister who was about to enter Year 13. I can’t recommend Jon enough; not only is he extremely well versed and gave invaluable tips to my sister but also, he was always flexible, approachable and tailored his teaching to my sister who has a learning disability. Within 12 months, my sister went from a grade E and was able to achieve a high B in her A-Levels and this is largely because of Jon and his kind, understanding and engaging teaching. An absolutely brilliant tutor!

Jon tutored my son for 18 months in the run up to his History GCSE. He was utterly reliable in all the arrangements. He was focused and friendly, understood exactly what areas needed concentrating on, and was a friendly and inspiring tutor. Our son's GCSE grade exceeded our expectations, thanks in large part to Tom's excellent tuition. I recommend him unhesitatingly.

My daughter needed support with American politics as it was close to exam time and needed a specific grade for Uni. Jon set a plan out quickly and really helped her understanding of this subject. I came to Jon when my son was in Year 12 and getting Es in Politics. Despite my son feeling demotivated and lacking in any political knowledge, Jon managed to help him achieve an A* in his recent A Level. Jon was very patient, incredibly knowledgable and well-versed in the expectations of the exam board. His lessons were well structured and well paced (I say this as a fellow teacher). Jon managed to accommodate my son’s learning needs effectively and was very encouraging and positive with him. I cannot recommend Jon highly enough!

After some discussion about Isaac’s approach to learning both jon and Isaac have found away forward that suits them both.

We've been really pleased with the service we have received from Jon. Our daughter now has a better understanding of how to achieve the top grades in her forthcoming History GCSE.

My daughter had Jon support her with A level politics after not getting the grade she had hoped for at her first attempt. We found he carefully listened to what she needed and was happy to adapt lessons as required. Jon is very knowledgable, and being both an experienced teacher and examiner is particularly helpful. At weekly lessons, he managed to make the subject interesting, and after each lesson my daughter was enthused and excited about the next topic. He marked work promptly and gave valuable and helpful feedback. I would certainly recommend Jon as a tutor for A level politics.

My daughter is in year 13 studying Politics A level. She is aiming quite high but her Politics marks were becoming a concern. One of her school teachers had been quite absent for a term and Brexit has been such a distraction often. She had revised a lot of the information necessary to get a good mark but not enough essay technique in terms of structure and focus. We are so glad we found Jon - almost immediately he has had a very good impact on her marks. She is much more confident in her ability to structure answers and to use what she has revised. Jon is a very experienced teacher and also has a lot of experience as an A level examiner; he manages to impart his great enthusiasm for his subject without detracting from academic rigour.
