I am a qualified Physics teacher at a leading independent school. I have gained a lot of experience becoming a Housemaster, Assistant Head of Teacher Training and working in the pastoral teams.

Before teaching, I studied for a Master’s degree in Astrophysics at the University of Liverpool, achieving First Class with Honours, as well as being awarded for gaining the highest marks for my graduating year.

I am a professional, originally from Southport (by Liverpool), who enjoys sharing my passion for my subjects and supporting the learning of others. Outside my job, I am a keen cricketer, I enjoy playing tennis and golf and a big Liverpool FC fan (I hope this doesn’t affect what you think of me!).

Tutoring Experience

I have been a qualified teacher for eight years, after studying a PGCE in Physics and Mathematics. As stated above, I have been working in schools for a long time - before teaching Physics I was a cricket coach at a top independent in the North-West whilst studying for my degree.

During my career, I have been awarded scholarships for teaching by the Institute of Physics, attended external courses dedicated to teaching A Level Physics, as well as being promoted to a number of senior positions.

I teach A Level, IB and GCSE Physics, as well as supervising Physics IAs and Extended Essays for the IB course.

Tutoring Approach

I have privately tutored for eight years in Physics, Maths and Chemistry to different age groups and of multiple exam boards. I have many different resources available to use in order to tailor my tuition to the individual needs of every student. I will provide my own notes (which have been praised by current students), questions with worked solutions on individual topics, exam specific textbooks, a library of past paper questions sorted into topics and year, as well as access to an online resource published by the University of Cambridge in order to support and stretch students of all abilities.

I provide an environment that is conducive to learning - a relaxed and approachable style, where the student enjoys, yet works hard in, each session. I will provide regular updates to parents on their child’s progress, and inform them on how to further improve.
