I recently finished as a Year 5 class teacher at the British College of Brazil in São Paulo, where I taught for two years. Prior to teaching in Brazil, I worked and trained to be a teacher at Knightsbridge School in London. Qualifying with a grade of Outstanding, I became familiar with initiatives such as Pie Corbett’s Talk for Writing and was able to further practise this approach as well as Maths Mastery whilst working in Brazil. Both of these initiatives I am fond of because of the equal opportunities they offer children.
Studying Italian at the University of Bristol, I love languages and exploring different cultures. In São Paulo, I learned how to speak Portuguese through playing football with locals and continue to have online lessons because I want to be fluent soon!
Alongside my jobs, I am a keen writer. I have mostly written for online music magazines, interviewing and sharing stories about musicians who interest and inspire me, but now I aim to spend any extra time I have writing about a wide variety of topics.

In the classroom, I would always have high expectations for the children. Through precise praise, I nurture a healthy competition in the classroom where all students strive to achieve their best. To ensure that every student can access the lesson, I start every sequence of lessons with the basics of the concept and make full use of resources that the children might find helpful later on. As the lessons progress, through targeted questioning and careful observation, I either send children away to start their learning independently or continue to support them in small groups until I feel they are comfortable to start without adult help.
As a tutor, I aim to listen and pay close attention to the student in order to discover how best to help them. I would never simply give them the answers to questions but always try to show them examples first and work with them until I felt they were ready to work independently on the task.
My approach combined with a down-to-earth and caring attitude allows children to make great progress and enjoy learning.
