I am a Computer Science and Electronics student at the University of Bristol, going into my 2nd year. Throughout A level I worked at the highest level achieving A*s in Maths and Further Maths. During this period, I pushed my mathematical boundaries with help from an outstanding professor, studying the STEP course (Cambridge Entrance Exams). At university, in both my Discrete Maths and Engineering Maths modules I achieved above 80% working well above the First Class Honours boundary.
I have taught GCSE level Maths, Physics and Chemistry since 2021. Over the last two years, my students have gone from working at grades 6-7 to pushing into those 8-9 grades. I have good experience working both online and in person, adapting my teaching style to each environment. During this time I also gained experience working with students with dyslexia, learning techniques to support them.
My teaching style is dependent on the students strengths, weaknesses and current ability. I often start my sessions with a period of theory in whatever subject my student is struggling to understand. After this, I progress into working questions together with the student helping them apply that theory. Constructive feedback on both a general basis and for each individual question is crucial. Working alongside mark schemes, I teach my students to understand the syllabus well enough that they can give the examiners exactly what they ask for in each question.
