I am a native Russian speaker based in Royal Leamington Spa, UK. I have been teaching the Russian language both online and face-to-face ever since I graduated from Queen Mary, University of London in 2008 with a BA in Russian and English Linguistics.
Whether you are looking for a short-term Russian revision course focusing on the Russian exam preparation, an intensive course before your business trip to Russia, help with Russian language essays, or long-term Russian tuition to take up as your hobby, I am here to help.
I currently work as a core Russian language teacher at the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO) in London where I teach levels A1 to C1 covering all main skills such as reading, speaking, listening, writing, and grammar.
As part of this work, I create and develop study materials in accordance with the course curriculum, and devise and assign tailored exercises to individual students in order to reinforce the material.
Alongside that, I work as a private Russian Tutor for numerous individuals and language companies in London as well as online. My previous clients worked for Tesla, Sky News and Reuters, Morgan Stanley, Commerzbank, Médecins Sans Frontières, Vivaki, and other companies.
In addition to the standard option of online tuition, there is also an option of a self-paced independent study with an online video course in Russian for Complete Beginners based on the Curriculum of the Elementary Level of the Test of Russian as a Foreign Language, which I researched, wrote and published on Udemy platform.
I am also the author of "Advanced Russian Through Media", which is a textbook aimed at upper intermediate and advanced level students of Russian who would like to expand their existing vocabulary, gain a better understanding of the contemporary Russian language and improve their knowledge of grammar through Russian media. It is based on material from authentic Russian newspaper articles written by Russians for native Russian speakers, which exposes students to real, everyday language.
I tailor my lessons depending on the skill needed, be that conversation, grammar or reading. Having studied Latvian, French, German, and English myself I can relate to and anticipate any difficulties when it comes to learning languages and I always try to plan lessons in a fun and challenging way. I use appropriate study materials and adapt the pace and homework to suit the needs of an individual student. The first lesson is dedicated to establishing any prior knowledge of Russian and agreeing on a suitable study plan to achieve the necessary results. All study materials are provided.
I teach in person and online to suit students' locations and timetables.
