I really enjoy teaching students and see them grow in confidence and achieve their goals.
I am happy to teach on line (via Zoom or Skype); or in my classroom.| Sorry I am now too busy to come to your home. Additionally I prepare foreign students for their IELTS or other examinations. In addition I have been an examiner for GCSE English Literature, so I know how to prepare students to pass this exam!
I teach using a good structure of work and ensuring that the student knows how to work smartly. In other words, they know how the examiners award marks and how to achieve these marks. Every student I have taught has always increased his, or her, marks and have entered Universities of their choice.
Please note that if you require me to set and mark homework an extra charge of £15 will be applied.
I am very happy to report that my last GCSE English Language and Literature students received the pass marks that they wanted, and some higher. Level 7 and 8's for the more challenging new GCSE papers are good results! Well done to all my students!

I enjoy teaching one to one, as you really get to know the students and their strengths and weaknesses. I try to ensure that my teaching is both fun, friendly and instructive. Most of my students need to good pass for their examinations and I ensure that I know the syllabus well and what the examiners want from the students.
I also like to make sure that the student is relaxed, and not afraid to ask me any questions, no matter, how stupid they feel that they are, because often they are not!
With English subjects I like to encourage students to write interestingly and informatively and to create, and practise, their own individual style of writing. I will encourage the student to read different books and poetry to enhance their own skills. I will support them in using dictionaries, Thesaurus, and other word and information books.
When teaching Media Studies I encourage the students to read various newspapers; listen to the news; watch and access media programmes such as 'Panoroma' and 'Question Time.'
Before I start to teach, I like to ensure that I am fully aware of what course and exam board they will be doing, so that we can plan together a set of manageable topics of work. I will also ensure that I have a number of past examination papers which will mean that the student can practise their examination technique. I like to set homework so that the student can show me how they are progressing, or what I, as the teacher, needs to re-explain. I like the student to bring in any school homework that they are having problems with so that can help them with this. Please note I do charge extra for marking and feed back for homework. This is because of the amount of time - up to one hour, that this takes.
