I have a First Class degree in Medieval and Modern History from the University of Birmingham, a PGCE from Exeter University and a PGDip in Psychology from the University of Derby. I am a mum of two and I live in Plymouth with my family, our dog and our two cats. I am keen musician (I play the bassoon, piano and recorder) and I also love to read, cook, walk the dog, bodyboard and play bananagrams with my family!
I have been a secondary school teacher for 20 years and have taught a range of subjects at KS3 - History, English, Geography and RE - and History to GCSE and A-level. I have also tutored students from KS2 up to GCSE and A-level so have lots of experience of teaching in large groups as well as one-to-one teaching. I currently teach part-time at the best performing grammar school in Plymouth so have huge amounts of experience of teaching at the highest level and working hard to bring students' grades up. I am also the safeguarding governor at my children's primary school so I also have experience with the primary age group and curriculum.
I am a very personable teacher. I have always scored very highly on any performance management or Ofsted observation for the warm relationships I have with my students. It is so important to feel comfortable with your teacher or tutor and it can have a really positive impact on achievement.
