I am a recent graduate from the University of Edinburgh, where I studied Chemistry (BSc Hons 2:1). Teaching is one of my greatest passions and I have worked extensively as both a teacher and tutor in a variety of subjects, and for a wide range of ages, and have over 1800 hours of experience. Before university, I studied at St Paul's School, where I achieved A*AA in A-level Maths, Chemistry, and Physics.
Before going to university I took a gap year in which I worked part time as a teacher, a tutor, and a nanny. Since then, I have continued tutoring throughout university, and teaching during the holidays.
As a teacher, I work for a company that organises computer science camps in London for children aged 4-15. To date, I have run over 200 hours worth of day camps and after-school clubs, inspiring children to get interested in coding from a young age.
As a tutor, I have worked both independently and with an agency and have gained over 1600 hours of tutoring experience in Maths, Chemistry, and general STEM, with over 15 students aged 7-18.
As a nanny, I worked very closely with a family who needed both childcare and Maths and Non-Verbal Reasoning tuition for their 7 year old son. I tutored him for 6 hours a week over a period of 8 months.
Having worked with a huge variety of students, I have learned that the key to teaching is patience. Everyone learns in different ways, and I have become well practiced at understanding and adapting my teaching approach to best fit the needs of the individual.
I strongly believe in challenging my students, and find there is no better way to wrap your head around tricky material than to try something harder. I have previously taught GCSE level Maths to one of my 7-year-old students, and he has since breezed through his class materials without a second thought.
Additionally, I put a heavy focus on exam technique for those at GCSE and A-level, and have witnessed improvements by up to two grades due to good exam habits alone.
