Kate

Hi! I'm Kate, a full-time, professional tutor based in Petersfield (MA in Medieval and Modern Languages, St John's College, Oxford).

I specialise in A Level courses for Spanish, German and Portuguese and offer complete programmes to help students gain these qualifications, as well as short-term support with exam preparation. I work with students at all levels and across all age groups.

You can enter for the full A Level or another qualification with me (AQA, Edexcel, Cambridge International) or have extra tuition to support your work at school or college.

My focus is on helping students achieve their potential. I work with each individual learner to find the methods and techniques that they can use to develop a deep understanding of the target language, building confidence and self-belief.

In 2023 four of my students gained places to read Modern Languages at Oxford.

Tutoring Experience

I started my teaching career in 2008 with the Government of Andorra, where I held the post of Lecturer of English.

Since then, I have taught Spanish, German, English, Portuguese, Italian, French, Catalan and Dutch, both privately and at colleges in several European countries.

I am now tutoring full-time and have a mix of students learning for professional, academic and personal goals.

Tutoring Approach

My teaching style is positive, encouraging and supportive.

I believe that language learning can be a way for each individual to develop their confidence, and where exams are involved, feeling well prepared is essential.

A dynamic lesson plan gives us the framework to focus on the student's individual objectives, while providing lots of flexibility to tailor the content as the lesson progresses.

For A Level students, there are plenty of academic resources and authentic materials to allow you to engage fully with your language and get the most out of your studies. Courses can include grammar, linguistics, literature and cultural topics.

No matter what your level, your lessons will be full of real-world language and will deliver the content and vocabulary that you need to achieve your goals.
