Hello, my name is Katherine Hawkins and I have just finished my second year at the University of Birmingham where I am reading History. I achieved a 2:1 in my second year examinations.

In my A levels I achieved AAB in English Literature and Language, History and Drama and Theatre Studies. In my GCSEs I received 2 A*s, 6As and 4Bs which included triple Science, English and Maths.

Tutoring Experience

Since 2012 I have worked as an assistant tutor at 'Explore Learning' where I tutored children aged between 4 and 15 in English and Maths. During my work here I was able to lead workshops specialising in creative writing, as well as help children understand new concepts that they were struggling with at school. Also, last summer I tutored a GCSE student in Maths, going over the work she found particularly difficult in an attempt to develop and improve her confidence with the subject.

I also completed work experience as a teaching assistant with Cheam Common Junior School in 2011, and have also been a volunteer with the Rainbows since 2012.

Tutoring Approach

I am able to tutor Maths from primary level to GCSE level and English and History from primary level to A Level. Whether there is a specific element of the curriculum that a student is struggling with, or they want to improve their general academic ability and confidence with a particular subject, I am more than happy to help! I try to create a fun and engaging environment when tutoring so that students avoid feeling under any pressure and ultimately enjoy themselves.

I am available to tutor from the 11th July 2015 until the 20th August 2015 on weekdays only.
