Katherine

I was a professional singer, I performed under the name Katherine Steffan. I graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music and then for 3 years worked in musicals in rep Theatre and the West End. I then did a Opera Post Graduate Course at the Guildhall before joining the Glyndebourne Chorus a couple of years later I became a soloist, I'm happy to send my full CV to anyone who requests it.

Tutoring Experience

I started teaching when I was performing but dedicated more time to teaching in 2003 when I started teaching at St Paul's Junior School on a regular basis I was there for 18 years. I have also taught at The Arts Ed, White Lodge, an Italia Conte Associate School, the Gielgud Academy, Kensington Prep, Ludgrove School and West Sussex Music. I have had pupils perform at English National Opera, Holland Park Opera, the Glyndebourne Festival and in the West End. My pupils have always done well in their exams.

Tutoring Approach

Very relaxed and nurturing, I do not believe in pushing people though when they are feeling confident and ready to perform I will encourage them to "get out there". If someone is given a decent technique they have a vocal tool box to rely on and the confidence soon grows.
