Hello, I'm Kate - a passionate Astrophysicist and Secondary school teacher. I have a true passion for encouraging students to question the world around them. I thrive on improving pupil’s knowledge and understanding by using ‘out of the box’ thought strategies to explain key concepts. I work well with pupils who have low confidence and I pride myself on being able to encourage these learners to see their skills. I am hard working and conscientious as a teacher whilst being completely child centred. I am highly versatile, with an approachable and adaptable teaching style. I would love to work with your child and help them reach their goals.
On receiving my PGCE from the University of Oxford, I worked in a large mainstream secondary school in Oxfordshire. During this time I taught all years from 7-13. I am now Head of Physics at a local secondary school. My subject specialism is Physics, however I am qualified to teach all sciences.
During the session time will be split between 3 areas; presenting new information, constructing meaning and finally applying/ demonstrating what the child has learnt. There will be a small amount of exam question prep required for the next lesson (maximum 20 mins extra learning). In my experience this has proven to be the best method of reviewing the session for the learners.
