I am a fully qualified French and Spanish teacher and I am passionate about giving a high standard of education to my students.
I consider myself a happy and optimistic person. I am very friendly, patient and approachable and always enthusiastic about what I do. I am a reliable and organised person and I love working with people of all ages. I also have excellent time management and communication skills.
My favourite hobby is dancing and I do classes in Ballet, Pointe, Tap and Modern. I have been dancing since I was 6 years old and I am really passionate about it.
I also enjoy practising my languages skills in my free time, such as reading, speaking, listening and writing in French and Spanish, practising French and Spanish grammar and vocabulary, translation and interpreting.
My other interests include exercise, going to the cinema, seeing my family and friends, eating out and listening to music.
Having fully qualified as a teacher with ‘outstanding’ in June 2013, I taught French and Spanish at a high school in Norfolk to Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 for one year. I then went on to teach French to Years 3 to 6 at a primary school for three months and then I worked as a Year 1 teacher at an infant school for a year. I also have vast private one-to-one tuition experience (since 2014) with both children and adults and I have an inspiring repertoire of engaging learning activities and ideas. I have found it so rewarding working with people of all ages and abilities to not only help them reach their full potential, but to also enjoy languages more. Tutoring people and using my languages are both genuine passions for me.
Whilst doing my BA Honours French (with Spanish) degree at UEA, I taught French to Year 6 classes for three months at a junior school (as an instructor), which included planning lessons on my own. This was such a fantastic experience for me and I enjoyed it so much that it influenced me to become a teacher/tutor.
During my year abroad near Bordeaux in France as part of my university degree, I taught English as a language assistant in a French secondary school for seven months. This was a very exciting and enjoyable adventure for me and I really loved planning and delivering the lessons every day.
During my degree I also worked as a student mentor, which involved visiting high schools in Norfolk for two hours a week to advise and provide help for young students in Year 9 and 10 (for example, CV guidance, how to have successful interviews, revision techniques and exam preparation). This was such a rewarding and enjoyable experience and I loved helping the young people and giving them advice and support for their future.
I am a professional and conscientious linguist and tutor with the ability to communicate confidently and effectively, whilst maintaining a genuine rapport with my tutees. I am friendly, approachable and patient, and I truly believe that being kind and understanding is hugely important. I have a responsible and committed work ethic and a true, dedicated passion for languages. I am highly experienced and skilled in teaching, tuition and working with children, from age 2 through to age 18, as well as adults. I am able to provide outstanding tuition and support to all levels and abilities with an excellent understanding of the process of learning. I can plan, prepare and deliver lessons of consistently high standards that can be adapted to meet the needs of the individual. I am talented and greatly experienced in modern foreign languages, with highly advanced linguistic skills, particularly in French, Spanish and English, including vast teaching experience in both. I feel that I can make a real difference in language tuition by sharing this knowledge and experience with my tutees. I am very happy to move at a pace that my tutee is comfortable with during lessons and I will always make any questions welcome. I strongly believe in making language learning enjoyable and fun, and in this way I have successfully helped many tutees to gain more of a genuine interest in their subject and, thus, enjoy it much more than they did before they started tuition. I have also had a lot of success in helping various GCSE students achieve higher than their predicted/desired grades in their final exams, which is always so lovely to see and be a part of.
