I'm a graduate of Durham University where I achieved a 2:1 in Modern Languages and Cultures with a Year Abroad-Hispanic studies. I teach all levels of Spanish online. I Have lived in Cuba, Argentina, and Spain with 4 years of experience in teaching.
I currently work in the Education sector as a teaching assistant so I have excellent knowledge of the current curriculum and what is required to obtain good grades in exams. I have 4 years of tutoring experience and have tutored 2 pupils through GCSE Spanish, improving their predicted grades by 2 levels. I have also tutored two adults who wanted to improve their conversational Spanish before moving to Spain which gave them the confidence they needed to speak to people. I taught English as a foreign language whilst working as an Aupair in Madrid, this was an intensive 5 hour day for 4 weeks course.
My tutoring approach is tailored specifically to the student. In my first class with them, I will establish the level of the student, where their strengths and weaknesses are, and what they are trying to aim for with these lessons. I think it's important when teaching languages to have a comprehensive approach involving the four areas of reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Depending on the level of the student I will focus on grammar and vocabulary rules first, which builds up a foundation of knowledge, and then improve fluency with activities that force the student to think on the spot- mimicking a real-life situation.
