I am a professional translator of Spanish and French into English with an Honours degree in Spanish from the University of St Andrews and a Masters in Translation from Heriot Watt University.

Tutoring Experience

My teaching experience began when, as part of my Honours degree, I spent my third year abroad teaching in a high-school in Seville, Spain, teaching ages 13-18 in classes, private 1-to-1 classes with adults, and private tutoring of an American family who had just moved there and were looking to learn Spanish.

I am now a certified-TEFL tutor (teaching English as a foreign language), as well as teaching regular Spanish and French lessons to all ages, including Beginners, National 5, Higher, and Advanced Higher.

Tutoring Approach

I seek to help others master these languages using various language-learning strategies I've learned along the way – the conscious steps or behaviours used by language learners to enhance the acquisition, storage, retention, recall, and use of new information. Develop your vocabulary quickly and learn the best words and phrases to confidently communicate like a native speaker in any situation. I will guide you to make the best word choices and understand the subtle differences.

I ensure my lessons have elements that not only cater to the different learning styles of my students, but that are also conducive to their various learning strategies. I find this has more impact than relying on a single strategy, and results in improved proficiency or achievement overall or in specific skill areas.

As an online teacher, I've had the wonderful opportunity to connect with students from all over the world. I have a relaxed teaching style that puts students at ease and I provide useful, gentle corrections in a fun and memorable way. I specialise in helping students develop the ability to express themselves in a way that matches their personality.
