I am a young, hard-working teacher, full of energy and an excellent practitioner; I have very good subject knowledge and I thoroughly enjoy teaching interactive and cross-curricular lessons. I provide frequent praise for pupil’s achievements and ensure that we work in a fun, safe, comfortable and supportive working environment. I am committed to ensuring and maintaining high standards of achievement. I have high expectations and make sure students work to their full potential. Students are clear about my expectations of them, and I always strive to make sure they are working at a level that both suits and challenges them.
I am a very determined person, with a positive attitude. I am always punctual and I have very good time management. I am sure that I can offer and make a very positive difference to pupils and set them a definite foundation, by transferring the personal skills that I possess, in a variety of challenging and effective ways.
I have excellent ICT skills and embrace new technology, which is vital for our current and next generation. I am able to use a range of programs (including Apple products and ‘apps’, Purple Mash/ 2simple), the Internet and email. I have the skills and training needed to produce my own interactive software (‘Opus’) and Virtual Learning Environment (E-portal/ J2E), this strengthening my teaching and learning.
I graduated from Trinity College, Carmarthen in July 2008, achieving a 2:1 in Primary Education (Hons.) with Q.T.S (through the medium of Welsh). I was suggested by the Pembrokeshire County pool interviewer, to the Head teacher of Narberth C.P School, as an enthusiastic teacher, and shortly began my teaching career in the Year 5 and 6 Class (Welsh stream) in their brand new community school. Having taught there for a year, I then moved on and had many great teaching experiences in Bro Banw School, Ammanford, teaching Year 5 to begin, then Science, Maths, Welsh and Music, to all the Juniors classes in (team teaching, whilst working part time in Year 3), and then took on a Maternity cover in the Foundation Phase (Nursery and Reception), where I undertook an inspection by Estyn and achieved a Grade 1.
From September 2010, I taught the Key Stage 2 class on a part time contract (0.6), in a small country school in Cwmifor, near Llandeilo, where again we were inspected by Estyn under the new framework and successful results were achieved. I also enjoyed the experience of supply teaching in a variety of schools across Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire, Swansea and Ceredigion, where I had plenty of opportunities to teach a range of age groups.
From February until December 2012, I taught a group of Year 5 and 6 pupils at Maenclochog Community School in Pembrokeshire, where I was responsible for ICT, Science, Humanities, R.E and Sustainable Development/ Eco Schools. Once again, the school was observed and inspected by Estyn and achieved a successful. I returned to Narberth School for the remainder of the academic year, where I taught Year 1 for two terms.
Currently (as of September 2013 to present) I work teaching Years 5 and 6 pupils at Maenclochog School. I also tutor Maths and Language after school, to 6 pupils who are all in Key Stage 2 classes.
I am very adaptable and flexible. My planning is adjustable- I let the students inform lessons by adapting tasks to their needs. I believe new skills should be continually embraced and developed, so I am always open to new ideas and initiatives.
A balance of interactive, fun and games to make learning and enjoyable experience!! A variety of resources used to engage learners. Suitable books and standardised assessments used.
