Hi, I'm Kendra-Jean! I am a current medical student at Cardiff University and part-time tutor. Removed I have a passion for education and teaching young people about its importance, which I aim to do during all of my lessons!
I have an up-to-date DBS certificate.
I am a medical student at Cardiff University with over 500 hours of tutoring experience in the Sciences and English. Because of my medical background, I have a keen interest in the Sciences, which I try to pass on to all of my students. In fact, some students have decided to pursue a career in Medicine after lessons with me!.
I teach A-level and GCSE Biology (my favourite subject at school!), and am able to reinforce the knowledge I pass on to my students through what I have gained via my Medicine studies. I also teach GCSE Chemistry and KS1-KS2 English (in preparation for the 11+ exam!).
I also offer Medical application advice to any budding applicants, having gained 3 medical school offers in Year 13.
Here is a review from one of my A-level Biology students!
"Kendra-Jean is an amazing tutor who goes above and beyond to help me not just with my studies but also with anything that I would like help on for example mentoring me in ways to get into medical school. Her lessons are very good and I am grateful for all I have been taught so far"
My main aim in lessons is to encourage my students to take charge of their education. I give my best study tips and advice and monitor the progress of my students as time goes on.
I always ask my students what they would like to tackle, rather than taking the lead and deciding myself. This pushes them to revise during the week, so they can come to me with anything they still couldn't quite manage to grasp following their independent learning. I do this in hopes to train my students to have good study skills, which is especially important during A-level and at University where they are expected to take control of their learning.
My lesson structure is as follows:
1. Ask them to summarise what they have revised during the week
2. Go through homework I have set them and do a starter quiz based on a topic covered months ago (reminds students what to revise if they
3. Go through Powerpoint based on a topic they have told me they want to revise
4. Exam question practice! (Most important part of the lesson!)
Homework is set after every lesson, which ranges from quizzes to exam question booklets to ensure students are proactive between lessons!
