Online Maths and Physics Lessons

Hi, I’m Kieran!

I’m an Aeronautical Engineer with a focus on vehicle dynamics and control. My career has taken me across dynamic optimization and control design roles for multicopter UAVs, Formula One cars, rockets, and satellites. I’m passionate about making the software, mathematics, and physics behind engineering feel engaging and practical for my students—showing you how the concepts you’re learning now will directly support your future in the workplace.

About Me
I graduated from Imperial College London in 2019 and bring over 7 years of professional experience. My roles have included:

  • Vehicle Dynamicist at Williams Formula One Team

  • Flight Dynamics & Control Engineer at a London startup (developing multicopter UAVs)

  • Guidance, Navigation, and Control Engineer at a Paris startup (air-launched rockets for orbital debris removal)

Having worked extensively in small, agile teams, I’ve developed broad expertise across aerospace engineering, covering mechanics, dynamics, aerodynamics, software, and electronics. This collaborative environment honed my ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and work efficiently with colleagues from diverse disciplines.

What I Offer
I provide tutoring across a wide range of topics up to Masters level, including:

  • Aeronautical Sciences:
Aerodynamics, CFD, separated flows, materials, structural mechanics, flight dynamics, control theory

  • Mathematics:
Linear algebra, ordinary and partial differential equations, numerical methods, nonlinear programming, statistics, machine learning

  • Programming:
    Python, C++, MATLAB

Whether you’re preparing for summer reviews, working on extra-curricular projects, tackling in-term course content, or gearing up for exams or resits, I’m here to help. I look forward to working together - please feel free to reach out!

Tutoring Experience

With over 3 years of experience, I’ve had the privilege of helping students at various stages build confidence in their technical abilities and prepare for future success in further studies and in work.

Over this time I’ve been highlighted for:

  • Proven Results:
Over the years, multiple students have shared that my in-depth subject knowledge and clear, approachable style have made even challenging topics accessible and engaging.

  • Confidence:
Feedback consistently mentions that, beyond just mastering the material, learners leave my sessions with greater confidence - not only in their academic performance but also in their readiness to apply these skills in real-world jobs and projects.

  • Deep Understanding, Clearly Conveyed:
My approach is always to break down complex ideas into manageable, logical steps, ensuring that students truly grasp the underlying principles before moving on to more advanced concepts. This technique has been praised for making lessons memorable and practical.

How I Add Value

  • Personalised Progress:
I take the time to tailor sessions to each student’s strengths and aspirations, setting clear goals and celebrating every milestone along the way.

  • Real-World Relevance:
My background as a professional engineer allows me to bring context to each session, showing how classroom theory translates into skills valued in the workplace.

My goal in every lesson is not just to help you excel in exams or coursework, but to give you the clarity and confidence to tackle new challenges long after our sessions have finished. Let’s work together to build a solid foundation for your academic and professional journey!

Tutoring Approach

My teaching philosophy is grounded in building a deep, first-principles understanding of core technical subjects: maths, physics, and programming; from GCSE and A-Level all the way through to university level. I believe genuine mastery comes from a solid foundation, so my sessions focus on developing true conceptual clarity rather than rote memorisation.

Getting Started
In our first session, we’ll begin with an open conversation to get to know each other, discuss your current situation, and clarify your expectations. From there, we’ll set personalised goals and identify your strengths and areas for improvement. This structured start means each session is tailored specifically to your objectives, learning style, and ambitions.

I structure my lessons to promote the following:

  • Understanding First:

I prioritise helping students gain real intuition for the material, ensuring you truly grasp the underlying concepts before progressing to more advanced applications.

  • Theory into Practice:

I believe understanding comes alive when you apply theory. That’s why I work closely with students on practical problems and coding challenges: always ready to provide explanations when you need them, to reinforce and challenge your grasp of each topic.

  • Adaptable Explanations:

With experience in small, collaborative technical teams, I’m adept at breaking down complex ideas and explaining them in different ways to match your learning style.

  • Research and Exploration:

I encourage independent thinking, supporting you to research and approach new topics confidently. My aim is to equip you with the analytical skills to tackle unfamiliar problems beyond our sessions.

Context and Engagement
I recognise that the traditional classroom often lacks real-world context for why each topic matters. In my sessions, I aim to bridge this gap by showing how each skill or concept is used in engineering practice, making lessons more relevant and engaging.

Flexible, Personalised Support

  • During term-time: Focus will be on your course syllabus and developing strong exam technique, to help you maximise your grades.

  • Outside term-time: We can build your expertise in supporting disciplines through project-based work, whether it’s deepening your programming skills, tackling statistics, or exploring another area of interest.

Practical Details

  • All sessions are virtual: I use an online platform with a collaborative whiteboard to explain concepts clearly and interactively.

By adopting an understanding-first, personalised approach, my goal is to empower you to feel confident across a broad range of engineering and technical fields—and to become an independent, critical thinker. I look forward to supporting your learning journey!
