Hi, I'm Kirk!
I hold a BSc in Computer Games Technology from the University of Portsmouth, a field that has not only honed my technical skills but also ignited my passion for teaching. Over the years, I've dedicated myself to guiding students towards academic excellence and personal growth.
My journey as a tutor has been incredibly rewarding. I find immense fulfilment in assisting students, not only in overcoming challenges but also in harnessing their unique talents and potential. My goal as an educator is to provide a supportive and engaging learning environment where students can thrive.
My speciality is in maths and its practical applications in science and computing. As a programmer I'm familiar with C++, C#, Python and JavaScript, as well as several game development engines.
I've been a private tutor since 2016, and it has been an incredible journey of growth and learning. Throughout this time, I've had the privilege of working with a diverse range of students, each with their unique backgrounds and learning needs.
My expertise lies in Mathematics, Science, and Computer Science-related subjects. Having personally navigated through the rigors of GCSEs, A Levels, and university studies, I understand the challenges and pressures that students face during their studies. This insight drives my commitment to preparing my students comprehensively for the hurdles they encounter.
Every student is unique, and I believe in tailoring my approach to their individual needs. In our first lesson, I prefer to engage in a conversation with both the student and their parent. This initial discussion helps me understand the student's strengths, challenges, and learning objectives. It forms the foundation for a personalized lesson plan that evolves as we progress.
I firmly believe that a cooperative and encouraging atmosphere is essential for effective learning. In my lessons, I maintain a casual yet focused approach, creating an environment where students feel comfortable expressing their thoughts and asking questions. This fosters a positive attitude towards learning and encourages students to actively participate in their education.
In addition to academic achievement, I emphasize the development of critical thinking, problem-solving, and study skills that will benefit students far beyond their current coursework. I believe in fostering a growth mindset that equips students with the tools they need to thrive in an ever-changing world.
