Hello! I am a current history student at the University of Oxford looking to find some tutees over the next year. I am predicted a 1st in my BA and have won academic research grants from institutions like the Rothermere American Institute during my undergraduate. I also hold an offer to study for a Master's (MSt) in American History at the university of Oxford (2023 entry).
I have 9A*s and 2As at GCSE, A*s in History, English Literature, Art and Design and As in French at A-Level.
I have tutored several students and seen proven results in both their grades and their confidence. One of my students increased her History A-level grade from a predicted B to an A* and was accepted to Oxford University (Exeter College) to study languages. I have significant experience assisting international students with applications to UK universities when English is not their first language, which required structuring and editing CVs and personal statements while helping them navigate the application system. One student was successfully accepted to Imperial University for her master’s course.
My knowledge bases are in humanities and history. I have studied and can teach courses on early modern British history (Tudor and Stuart monarchies), and the history of the United States, from the founding of America to 1980, for either GCSE and A-Level.
I can also teach GCSE and A-Level English literature, general essay writing, reading, time-management and critical thinking skills.
As a current Oxford student I have recent experience passing Oxbridge entrance exams and interviews.
I can tutor the HAT (History Aptitude Test), advise on the application process for Oxford and Cambridge, and inform on interview skills and practice.
My approach to teaching is about enthusing enough confidence and knowledge in my students that they feel able to tackle questions independently. I am results focused and stay very on task, so there is a lot of repetition and frequent testing to measure my student’s progress. I have great experience verbally breaking down complex concepts and improving people’s essay writing skills. My attitude is professional, enthusiastic, and patient.
