I have recently completed my first year at the University of Warwick, studing Mathematics & Computer Science. I achieved
I achieved A*A*A*A*A across A-level Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Economics, and my EPQ (worth half an A-level) in Neural Networks. As someone who is currently going through the education system, I hope to use my up-to-date experiences to provide the most effective tutoring methods.
I have a great interest in Maths and the Sciences, and historically have been teaching difficult concepts to my classmates over the past few years. Sometimes I volunteered at Maths workshops in my college, helping younger students with any topics they found challenging.
I achieved eleven GCSEs at secondary school, of which seven were Grade 9, (the rest 8s and 7s), including 9s in Maths, Further Maths and the three sciences. I have also achieved numerous Olympiad level awards, including several gold awards in UKMT Maths Challenges and a country-wide top 900 score in the British Physics Olympiad. I won the University of Southampton Senior Maths Challenge in 2020.
In my free time I play piano, chess and code in Python. I also enjoy recreational Tennis.
Been a professional tutor for over a year, including for neurodivergent students.
I like to tailor my lessons to what the student finds difficult and fill in gaps of their knowledge. Exam style questions are also a great way to apply knowledge and ensure the student can get the top grades in tests. If the student is up to the challenge, I would like to use Olympiad problems to stretch them and gain creative problem solving skills.
I also firmly believe that having an interest in the subject is crucial to understanding concepts and improving, so I like to introduce applications of the topic being studied, so that it doesn't feel like mindless exercises.
I receive tutoring sessions myself, and am well versed in using online tutoring technology such as Bramble and Miro, combined with my own personal writing pad, to provide the best tutoring experience possible. Sessions would massively benefit if the student also has their own writing pad / tablet, but of course is not necessary.
I have experience tutoring neurodivergent students, such as those with Autism. I am patient, and willing to repeat or rephrase concepts and ideas so that the student understands the content.
