I'm an enthusiastic and personable English teacher with a genuine passion for teaching the subject to all levels and abilities. I enjoy using topical stories/texts to bring the teaching of English to life and encourage my students to use their experiences to hone all their written and spoken language.

I have recently attained a CELTA qualification which will enable me to deliver English to second/additional language speakers too.

Tutoring Experience

I have taught mainly in the state secondary sector but have extensive experience of tutoring students from the private sector.My experience of examinations includes entrance exams to private schools, GCSE, AS and 'A' level. I have also provided additional support to students from primary schools in the run up to SATS exams

Tutoring Approach

I try to offer a bespoke service and tailor my sessions to suit each person's individual needs. I also think it is important to use a variety of mediums to engage the student from traditional text, to the use of the internet, you-tube etc. I think that encouaraging/knowing the interests/aspirations of the student allows a congenial working atmosphere. Students can use topice that they're knowledgeable about to access skills and more challenging texts.

I encourage the setting of mutual targets a regular intervals to ensure that significant progress is made and I regularly communicate with students and their carers to keep them abreast of developments.
