Hi, I'm Laura. I am a graduate from the University of Cambridge where I completed a degree in Biological Natural Sciences. I achieved an A* in A-level and GCSE biology as well as an A* on an Extended Project Qualification based on antimicrobial materials in medicine. Throughout my degree I took a wide range of biological modules including Biology of Cells, Biochemistry and Plant and Microbial Sciences, ultimately specialising in my final year in Pathology. I love being able to translate what I've learnt into a format which can help students also enjoy learning about biology and achieve the grades they are aiming for!

Tutoring Experience

My experience in tutoring includes tutoring Year 12 and Year 13 A-level biology students, helping teach GCSE biology classes and even tutoring younger siblings.

Tutoring Approach

Sometimes learning biology can feel like a tedious memory test. My approach to teaching focuses on understanding and applying the concepts so the memory comes automatically. It was only a few years ago that I was in the position of revising for my own A-levels and GCSEs, so have recent first hand experience on which methods proved effective.

I am an advocate for the use of diagrams and animations to aid visual learning and make concepts easily accessible. I provide my own notes for each of the covered topics which are geared towards writing concise answers to ace exam questions. I will also happily mark and give feedback on any extra work along the way!

I can provide individual lessons at £50/hr or lessons for 2 students at £80/hr (£40 each).

I am also very happy to discuss and help where I can with the application process to University or Sixth Form.
