Hello, My names Laura and I'm from England. I currently live in central Portugal with my two dogs. I am passionate about teaching and have over 11 years experience, at all ages and levels. In my free time I enjoy a variety of sports such as skiing and rock climbing. I love traveling and being outdoors in nature, exploring with my dogs. I have many hobbies including varies arts and crafts, cooking, gardening, reading and listening to music.
I have over 11 years teaching experience. I taught in the classroom for 7 years in the UK, before moving to Portugal 4 years ago, where I started teaching English as a second language, mainly online.
I have a BA honour, qualified teacher status and a CELTA. I love the opportunity teaching online has given me to teach students from around the world with a multitude of cultures and backgrounds. I have taught all ages at a variety of levels from beginner to proficient. I have taught young learners business English, exam preparation and conversation classes.
I believe learning should be fun and pride myself on providing engaging and enjoyable lessons. Classes should be student centred, tailored to the individual goals and needs of the learner, adapting teaching styles and methods. I feel the classroom should provide a safe environment where the student feels able to express themselves and comfortable to learn. I believe building a good rapport with the student with plenty of positive feedback along with timely and constructive error correction can help achieve this and is paramount to successful learning.
