I am a 32 year old female from New Zealand who has just moved to London for something new!
I have been a teacher for 4 years (3.5 in primary and .5 in secondary). I studied law and psychology and worked as a lawyer before retraining as a teacher. I absolutely love working with people. Engaging with people of different ages and backgrounds, learning with and from them, is what I find most rewarding.
I am charismatic, engaging, encouraging, and enthusiastic. I basically enjoy spending my time with others be it talking, walking, seeing films, theatre or music, sharing food or playing a game.
For three of my four teaching years I worked with my own class of students of 11-13 year olds (this is upper primary in NZ). I worked at two different schools. After this I spent 6 months teaching at a secondary school, teaching law, psychology and social studies across ages 13-18.
For the last 6 months I did supply teaching in primary schools in New Zealand. I loved working with students of all ages.
I also have a lot of nannying experience.
Furthermore, I was a lawyer for 18 months. I am very professional and know how to engage with people from different walks of life.
I work hard to establish a strong and positive working relationships with my students (and their parents which can be very important depending on their age), and celebrate each step of progress a student makes. I can extend higher ability children, as well as support and nurture the progress of children struggling academically. I adapt to the needs of each student, slowly building their confidence through scaffolding, encouragement, challenges and ultimately fostering independence. I form quick relationships with people of all ages. I believe I could help those learning English as a second language due to my friendly and charismatic nature and teaching experience.
