Hello! I'm a poet and producer working in the arts and culture sector. I'm interested in what makes people tick and how our worldviews interact with art and literature. Having achieved an M.A. distinction in Comparative Literatures and Cultures (University of Bristol, 2022) and an undergraduate First Class in Economic and Social History, I am competent in engaging with questions about culture. Gaining a distinction certificate with the TEFL Academy has enabled me to learn the necessary skills to teach students. I have mainly worked in people-oriented capacities and am inclined to empowering others through coaching and training. I enjoy engaging people creatively and opening their minds to view the world critically.
I have undertaken various summer teaching roles, one of which included teaching students in a foreign country where I instructed students aged 18-25. In the UK I have taught international students from Greece, Italy and China with Language Study Centres ltd. and was a phonics teacher for children aged 3-4 years, teaching them how to read and write from the ground up in an intensive summer programme. By the end of the course, all students apart from one were equipped to move onto the next level demonstrating my abilities to gear others towards goals within a specific timeframe and standard. Right now, I continue my student support in a coaching capacity, helping them to clarify concepts and sharpen their academic understanding. I provide good accountability, structure and feedback. I have diversified my teaching and coaching abilities over the past few years, running poetry workshops for people with wide-ranging writing abilities.
I provide a tailored service to suit the tutee's stage of progress and preferred learning style. The first session will be getting to know you/your child's learning preferences and goals. I will also carry out a rough assessment in which my main objective will be to consider their current level and to ascertain what pace we have to go to obtain the desired goal. To keep the student interested and working at a high capacity, I choose to break up the lesson with small and longer exercises. This ensures that they don't get too bored. I understand that students need tutors who are sympathetic, yet challenging in order to reach their full potential.
