Studying psychology at A-Level was the start of a life-long career in a subject that fascinates me. Being such a broad subject, this allows for so many applications to real life and this plays a huge role in why I love teaching the A-Level.
Aside from teaching, I am a very keen netball player and believe sport is an integral part of life. I will often spend my spare time playing tennis or watching sport live when I get the opportunity.
I am in my seventh year of teaching in the role Head of Psychology. During this time I completed my teaching qualification but also enjoyed roles as a tutor in a boarding house and as netball coach for the 1st VII. I am proud of the value I have added to the psychology pupils and the healthy numbers are a testament to the positive place this department is in.
I also achieved a Distinction for my Sport & Exercise Psychology Masters which is a real passion of mine. In completing this qualification it will further help me to successfully tutor A-Level pupils, particularly with the research elements of the specification.
During my time as a teacher, I have developed a very flexible and hands-on approach. I understand that each pupil is different and so am able to tailor my teaching to individual needs. I will, however, always strive to make the learning process a fun and interactive one where pupils can enjoy their psychology as the wonderfully applicable subject that it is. With this in mind, I have found it helps me to enable pupils to reach their full potential. I have done this with both large groups and on a 1:1 basis.
