Hello, my name is Libbi. I am a Psychology graduate and a full-time tutor. For the past three years, I have worked as a primary school teaching assistant, but I have now taken tutoring full-time. I have a life long passion for helping students of all ability’s to achieve success. I am a confident and friendly tutor that can mentor my students and help them with any of their educational needs, whilst increasing their motivation and enthusiasm.
I have extensive experience mentoring and tutoring students as I have three years experience in a primary school. My experience includes both working as a classroom teaching assistant and as a one to one learning support assistant. Being a LSA meant I worked 1-1 with my student to ensure they were reaching their goals. I worked with them to meet their individual needs, whether that was spelling practice, extra phonics using fun methods, or helping them with maths both in class, or 1 - 1. I always make sure I find different ways to help each student learn, the way that suits them best. For example, using visual tools such as arrays, more use of diagrams or playing subject related games. On top of this role, I ran a morning club 3x a week. I ran gym trial, which focuses on helping students pencil control and fine motor skills which works to improve handwriting. I also worked remotely to complete my recent degree, so I have a lot of experience both teaching and learning online. I now tutor online full-time and have tutored for the past three years.
My teaching style is a balance between interactive-engaging and calm-focused . I love my students to get involved and work with me to make learning fun. I’m a true believer in positive reinforcement so it’s important that my students feel safe and enjoy doing what we are learning about. Whilst making the subject enjoyable, I always remain professional and the lesson will always be focused. There is always a balance between a fun introduction of the topic and a calm space where students work independently to complete work
My lessons are fun yet effective. They are conducted online, using the online interactive whiteboard. The lessons are aimed at primary level students from EYS to key stage 2. My typical lessons begin with a starter exercise such as quick mental maths questions or simple sums or phonics warm up. I then introduce the topic we will be working on and go through different practice questions. After, I give my student’s opportunity to practice independently and then run through the answers together. The lesson would usually end in a summary and at home practice questions will be explained.
