I am a professional, highly motivated and skilled primary school teacher with a passion for education. All the parents of the students I have tutored to date have rebooked and a mother (who is also a teacher) commented after the first session, "She has really enjoyed tonight and I know she's going to get so much from your tuition." I still work part-time for the school I was previously leading within, which means I continue to have access to resources often only available to teachers and remain up-to-date with training and the current expectations on children in the classroom. When I am not working, I enjoy family time with my husband and 8 year old twin girls and play badminton for a local team as well as being a keen walker and jogger.
I am a qualified teacher and have over 18 years experience across the primary age range and can tutor in maths, reading, writing and phonics. For the majority of my teaching career I was on the senior leadership team (whilst still having my own class as I wanted to always actually be in the classroom). Leading others has meant my own teaching had to be exemplary and I pride myself in now bringing these high standards into my tutoring.
I believe fostering a 'growth mindset' in children underpins their success and a nurturing approach towards tutoring is key. Encouraging the development of students in teaching is about building confidence and resilience. When a child moves from believing they can't do something towards believing they might be able, I know we are about to make accelerated progress. A tiny mindset shift like this can make a huge difference. My tutoring sessions are well planned, fun, engaging and tailored to the needs of each child.
