I currently work for a national charity managing community projects. I have over 4 years experience of tutoring a range of subjects including teaching part time at St Albans College between September 2016-July 2017. I have always enjoyed studying and hope to encourage others to excel through being patient and supportive. I hold an MSc in Environment, Politics and Development from SOAS, University of London. Prior to that, I graduated from the University of Bristol in July 2016 with an upper 2.1 (hons) in History and a 1st in my dissertation.
I'm an experienced charity programme manager having worked in literacy, youth programmes and currently community development work. My availability for tutoring is reduced due to working full time however I do have some availability to tutor History online.
Tutored a range of subjects and students between 2016-2019 including GCSE and A level history, GCSE Geography, English as a foreign language and an adult learner studying for their Maths GCSE, who succeeded in passing after six months!
Part-time teaching position at St Albans College for one school year (2016-17) whilst I was studying for my MSc. I taught A level Human geography to a small class of 6 students.
I will encourage the student to guide the content of the sessions towards where they are struggling and to apply methods that appeal to that particular learner, whether this is writing practice answers that I mark and feedback or talking through concepts and case studies.
I will focus on techniques for memory and understanding. The focus will be writing skills and structuring answers as this is often vital to allowing your knowledge to to be applied in the way that will gain you the marks you deserve.
