I am a veteran teacher of history, having taught secondary and university level history. My passion is history, I spend most of my free time reading histories, I choose vacation destinations with historical themes or weekends traveling to local historical sites. While I have a penchant for Medieval History, I am also delve deeply into Classical Civilizations, World War I and II, Viking age...I think the list can be endless! Whatever you need to brush up on, I can help!

Tutoring Experience

I am a certified history teacher, having taught history in the USA for 31 years at the Secondary (12-18 year old) to University Level. Subjects taught: European History, US History, African American History, Geography, Western Civilizations, World History and Ancient Civilizations. Presently I instruct adults in Critical Thinking and Analysis Skills as well familiarization courses on Russia, Ukraine and the Balkans.

Tutoring Approach

I believe in a multifacted approach to learning, loosely based on the ADDIE Model ( (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate). The luxury permitted by tutoring will be I can give a bespoke plan of instruction to target individual learning styles, needs and goals. I like to inject humor as well as some games to learning where appropriate. I utilize a multi media, and like to challenge students to get them from the lower levels of Bloom's taxonomy, such as comprehension, to higher levels of thinkings, such as analysis, synthesis and even creating when possible.
