I am an experienced & successful teacher & tutor. I'm also a mum who has helped her own children through GCSE's & A Levels in the very recent past, so I get the challenge that many of our young people are facing at the moment.
Since the lockdowns I have been working as a school based tutor, covering everything from 1:1 to small class tuition as well as being a private tutor for both A level & GCSE students. Being involved with this has reignited my passion for teaching. I love making a difference and seeing the light bulb moment when a pupil suddenly understands something that not that long ago felt impossible.
More than 20 years classroom experience as an outstanding science teacher. Teaching ages 11 - 16 in all 3 sciences and 16 - 18 in both Chemistry & Biology (A level, Vocational & IB Diploma).
Former Lead Teacher in Chemistry & Biology and Lead Assessor for Level 2 & 3 Applied Science. Former Head of KS4 & KS5 science.
More than 5 years experience in 1:1 and small group tutoring, both online & in person.
Break the topic down into small manageable chunks and check understanding as we go along. Practice & revisit often. Build confidence as we go along. Move through topics at the learners pace.
Use exam questions regularly and make sure that the learned knowledge & understanding can be applied to the questions. Check that comprehension & understanding of the questions is not the obstacle to success.
Above all be supportive many young people feel very overwhelmed by exams.
My feedback shows that my method is successful and all of my 2023-24 students have made excellent progress.
