Having spent 17 years teaching in the UK, I now teach exclusively online helping student of all ages to achieve their learning goals. My expertise lies in teaching:
*Coaching students through GCSE English Language and Literature
*Coaching students through the Entrance Exams 11+ and 13+
*English as a Foreign Language to children and adults
*Teaching phonics, reading and creative writing to young children
I have taught for over a decade in Queen Elizabeth Grammar School and Wellacre Academy in the UK, working also as a Head of Year at Wellacre Academy. My responsibilities included, keeping track of student progression and to create reports written for parents. I was in charge of conducting reviews of their studies, identifying which areas they needed more support. This experience has given me the knowledge and expertise to identify a student’s individual needs, and to provide the resources needed for them to fulfil their potential.
My experience has prepared students for the following exams:
* AQA and EDEXCEL GCSE English Language
* AQA and EDEXCEL GCSE English Literature with the following texts: Macbeth, Romeo & Juliet, Dr.Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Blood Brothers and The History boys
* IGCSE Cambridge English Language and Literature
*ENTRANCE EXAMS 11+ and 13+
* IELTS Exams
* Functional Skills English Levels 1 and 2
TUTORING EXPERIENCE
I have tutored online and in person for over a decade, including students from the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Germany, France, Finland, Morocco and Dubai.
I have tutored for GCSE and IGCSE English Language and Literature with texts listed above, Functional Skills English, IELTS and Entrance Exams 11+ and 13+.
My teaching expertise also led me to open my own English Language Centre in Morocco, teaching children and adults the English language. I created my own original textbooks and materials for the school.
I have worked for an organisation helping refugees to learn English in the UK. I have worked in a Special Needs High School, teaching students with a range of needs, such as, ADHD, Down Syndrome, Behavioural problems, and students on the autistic spectrum. I was responsible for the delivery of English reading and writing, where I encouraged students through stories, theatre and the arts.
Throughout all of this experience I have found that it is vital and very important to gain the confidence of children, by finding out their strengths and weaknesses, likes and dislikes, so that they can learn in a comfortable and fun setting. This way they will find learning fun and exciting and look forward to lessons.
TUTORING APPROACH
I have a calm approach for all of my students as this enables them to feel supported and confident throughout their lessons. I use a straightforward but methodical approach and adapt each lesson to the needs of each student. My students and their parents have been very happy with this approach. I provide homework and activities, if this is requested by parents, as students will make faster progress if they have independent learning to do.
