I am a teacher of English in a successful, over subscribed school. I am also a mother to three teenage children and love exploring new places with my children, reading and going for walks.
I am a well qualified and experienced teacher of English Language and Literature, with the ability to adapt the British curriculum across a wide range of abilities.
I tutor pupils with a variety of target grades, ranging from a 9 to a 3, and currently tutor pupils up to GCSE.
I mostly teach and tutor mainstream students, however my specialist areas of experience are focused in adapting the curriculum to support learners with Autism, ADHD, English as an Additional Language, and dyslexia.
I listen to students' feelings about English and where they feel their strengths and weaknesses lie. Students then perform a range of tasks to determine areas needing the most attention. I use these outcomes to plan units of work with a variety of research-informed strategies, which allows pupils to become more confident and independent. Students are given regular, detailed feedback as part of a focused plan for improvement and progress.
I am exceptionally patient, understanding and adaptive as a teacher. I believe in helping young people to take pride in their work and have high expectations of themselves.
Thank you for reading my profile, and I look forward to working with you and your child.
