I currently teach at an Outstanding school (Ofsted) in East Sussex where I have been Head of Geography for 16 years.
I graduated with a 2:1 in Joint Honours Humanities (Human Geography and Social Theory).
I am also a Chartered geographer with the Royal Geographical Society and an active member of the Geographical Association.
I am an experienced Head of Department and now lead on CPD across the school as well as teaching A-Level, GCSE geography (AQA specifications) and KS3.
I also am an experienced examiner for AQA geography at GCSE and know very well how to coach students to achieve maximum marks for exam questions.
I completed a PGCE in secondary geography at Brighton University (an Ofsted outstanding provider).
I am comfortable working with all abilities and have successfully tutored A level and GCSE students to achieve exceptional results. I have developed specific skills and adapt my teaching to ensure progress for SEND students. Most of all I am supportive with students and am passionate about making them feel that they can succeed with perseverance.
I offer a personalised approach and adapt my teaching to suit the needs of the student. I can set weekly independent study in addition to my tutoring, if this is something required.
Key focuses are; general understanding, specific topic areas, case studies, exam technique and revision techniques with an emphasis on specific geographical vocabulary.
Although there is a broad range of content to cover in both the GCSE and A-Level geography specifications I can work with tutees to break this content down into manageable chunks.
