Hello! My name is Lorena. I was raised bilingual, speaking both English and regular Spanish. I developed a solid foundation in understanding language which enabled me to quickly pick up French and improve my written Spanish too. I like to get to know students I work with, to understand the level they are at and where they need to improve with their input as well as my own personal experience. Their confidence in what they are doing is just as important as subject knowledge, nurturing the ability to adapt and recognise their strengths will always help with language retention in the future.
I have worked in secondary schools and a learning support assistant, this has given me skills in delivering bitesize lessons to teenagers in quick and easy steps. I specialised in English and Languages, and have plenty of experience in a GCSE setting and the requirements of the exams.
I am easy going, I will set work and challenges that are within their wheelhouse even if they don't believe so. I am always eager to learn and aspire to better myself to keep up with the student. My expectations are high but not unattainable, I am amiable and considerate and will take my time to get to know them and their interests to better tailor the learning experience to their needs. This is a collaboration, we are a team, there is no me vs. them and I believe that will yield the best results in the long term.
