I am a part time primary school teacher and tutor. I have four children and I have taught them all to read and write and understand basic maths skills before they have gone to school. I specialise in early reading, phonics and maths. I find it incredibly rewarding to help young children with their phonics and see their reading and writing skills develop. I am extremely passionate about children having the basic building blocks of reading, writing and maths and believe these are fundamental to further development and learning.
I have taught every year group from Reception to Year 6. I have been a qualified teacher for 20 years and I still teach locally. I have taught all different abilities from SEND to gifted and talented. I have successfully taught both my own children and children I tutor to read and write and understand different maths concepts.
I am able to tutor all ages within the primary sector, with a specialism in Early years and KS1 and lower KS2. I aim to provide in depth tutoring tailored to each individual’s need and I am always available to talk to parents about how their child is progressing. I have a sound knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and also of KS1 and KS2 curriculums.
I tailor my 1:1 tutor sessions to each child. I always start with a baseline assessment of the child to see their starting point and then I move forwards appropriately. I am very patient, kind and allow the child to develop in a positive learning environment with a gentle yet guided approach.
Through my tutoring sessions, I build a rapport with each child, one in which they feel comfortable to learn and thrive.
I have lots of different approaches and resources that I use.
