I tutor physics and maths up to and including A level and all sciences and maths at GCSE and below. I also teach adult basic literacy and numeracy skills.
Being patient and friendly, as well as committed to my students' success, I aim to build confidence and enjoyment in the subjects I teach, to prepare students for examinations, as well as building essential skills for the future.
I am degree educated in physics and have experience at HE level in maths and natural sciences, including chemistry, biology, geology and astronomy.
I have experience tutoring the most able of students, as well as tutoring children with Autism/Aspergers and with complex learning needs.
I have experience tutoring the new 9-1 syllabuses and this year 100% of my pupils achieved grade 6 or above in the new 9-1 maths and one pupil achieved a grade 9.
Having a thorough approach, I aim to ensure that the basics are firmly understood, before proceeding to more advanced topics. I have a patient and clear manner of teaching. If something is not understood, I will break it down in an easy to understand way. I set homework to reinforce learning from tutoring sessions and going over this can identify any misconceptions, or areas of difficulty. The tutoring is tailored to the individual student and I try to find out from the start what their particular needs are and what they want to achieve.
I closely check a student's understanding against the syllabus for their subject and exam board and offer them every opportunity to achieve the highest grade for their ability and encourage my students to aim high.
