Current Head of English with years of effective classroom experience as well as one-to-one tuition. I have a good sense of humour and love to combine creativity with learning. Having graduated from the University of York with a BA Hons English Literature and an MA in Modern and Contemporary Literature, my subject knowledge is excellent. I love sharing my love of reading writing with students as I am truly passionate about my subject.

Tutoring Experience

I am an experienced classroom teacher, who is currently the Head of English and responsible for managing how GCSE English is taught in school. I have been an examiner with AQA for 8 years now, examining both their literature and language papers, so I have an excellent understanding of what students (of all abilities) need to do in order to succeed there. I have previously taught Edexcel GCSE specification and have continued to tutor it subsequently. I am currently teaching OCR English Literature A Level and have some experience with both the Edexcel Lang & Lit specification and AQA A Level Literature course.

I have extensive experience tutoring students at both GCSE and A Level, with a track record of securing improved student outcomes - both as confidence and in their grades. I am keen to ensure that each student makes progress at their own pace, when they feel comfortable, to aim to ensure that my lessons are relaxed and tailored to suit the needs of the student.

Tutoring Approach

I tailor each of my sessions to the individual, and am happy to use a range of online resources to help ensure your child's progress in English does not suffer from the school closures. Each session will be designed to help your child develop, and I will offer immediate feedback on their strengths and weaknesses to help them improve. I am a very calm individual who has extensive experience coaching students to increase their confidence surrounding the subject, and to encourage them to recognise where their strengths lie in English.
