I am a highly skilled and qualified tutor in English Literature and Language with over 25 years' experience of teaching English from GCSE through to degree level.
I hold a B.A., M.A., and PhD in English. I am also a qualified teacher with a PGCE from the University of Greenwich and have an additional qualification in Teaching English for Academic Purposes from The University of London.
I have designed and implemented courses in both Higher and Further education and have taught a considerable range of subjects from Shakespeare to contemporary poetry. This varied academic background has enabled me to build strong communication skills and to develop excellent motivational abilities.
I have been a private tutor for over 10 years now and am very familiar with all the exam boards, in particular AQA as I have taught this syllabus for many years.
I am also an English specialist assessor and Team Leader for the exam boards OCR, Cambridge and IB in both GCSE and A level examinations and am thus very confident with the assessment objective criteria and how to improve grades accordingly.
I strive to take an engaging approach to teaching and am proficient in identifying and accommodating individual learning needs and providing techniques to improve writing skills within a short space of time.
