I am a fully qualified English Teacher with over 15 years of teaching and tutoring experience. I have a BA(Hons) Degree in English Literature and have been an examiner for AQA for over four years.
Having been an English teacher for many years I have progressed through my career into curriculum development as well as a Head of Year for Progress. All these roles have provided me a wealth of knowledge and experience in supporting students through their academic journey.
Being a tutor provides a real opportunity to foster a love of learning for an individual because their learning is tailored and unique in a way that differs from the classroom. By adopting a good, systematic approach to individual study, students become confident in their studies with high achievement outcomes.
I have a wealth of practical experience from working in secondary school teaching GCSE English, GCSSE Media Studies, A-Level English Language and Literature.
I have been offering individual and group lessons to students age 12+ for over 10 years.
In addition to the above, I have been tutoring students from across schools in Bedford (Private and State) Milton Keynes and Buckinghamshire (Grammar and Comprehensive). This has afforded me a wealth of experience across multiple exam boards including: Edexcel, Eduqas, AQA and OCR.
I am so proud to say that 98% of my students have achieved highly in their exams, including re-sit exams where students have achieved at least two grades higher.
I am experienced in tutoring children with SEN.
Following an initial assessment, an individual approach is tailored for each student to allow them to develop at a pace that suits them in an enjoyable environment with lots of positive challenges.
Each lesson is well planned to suit the student's needs. My lessons are in a calm but stimulating atmosphere.
Ultimately I love to see students start to see the results not just in their tutored subject, but across all elements of the curriculum.
