I am a recent first-class graduate of English Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Manchester with over five years experience working with young people. I am a passionate reader and writer, and have received multiple awards for my written work, including the Shakespeare scholarship for best overall performance in English Literature. I am excited to share my love of the written word with young people through individually tailored lessons, aiding with I/GCSE, A Level, and university applications and personal statements.
I have over five years experience of working with young people through the Scout Association, and have taught various skills to small groups throughout this period. I am practiced at adapting my techniques for individuals and exploring varied learning methods to better aid understanding. I have undertaken work experience as teaching assistant for English, and I have taught creative writing workshops at multiple levels.
I focus on connecting the student with their texts, and ensuring they understand the core concepts and how to apply them to essays. I also teach literature analysis techniques that will be applicable to both seen and unseen passages for I/GCSE and A Level. I will focus on the elements the student finds most difficult, whether that be essay structure, reading comprehension, or finding the right language for their ideas. I can also aid with university applications and personal statements, focusing on writing style and technique.
