I am the CTO at Quantum Madical Diagnostics and Neuro Ai-Monitoring in Kansas. I was working as an Optical Systems Engineer at Oxford Immune Algorithmics. Researcher, Innovator and Academic teaching assistance in classrooms and labs. I am the founder and CEO of SpectCell with the University of Edinburgh, and with a patent in Vitro Cell Diagnosis, Medical Devices in 2020. I have gained experience in optoelectronics packaging, optical interferometry and product with BAE Systems, commercialisation with Renishaw plc. My PhD studies resulted in filling a patent in optical metrology and several publications in the same domain. I act as a European Commission Expert for research and commercial grants such as Horizon 2020 and a reviewer for IEEE Photonics, SPIE, UKRI and EPSRC in sensor technology. I am also experienced in industrial product design engineering gained at ABBOT Medical Optics and Optocap. And I am a member of New York Photonics and the University of Rochester. I also have a healthy collaboration with academia and industry in the UK and EU. Eg, Fraunhofer Manufacturing IPA in Germany.
I have over 15 years of teaching, research and industrial experience. I am very comfortable teaching in classrooms, groups, personalise using non-online and online tools for tuition, and assisting students to use them in collaboration with me so that both sessions are productive, personal and interactive.
I have particularly focus on supporting students at times of transition where knowledge gaps may occur and confidence falter - e.g. moving from primary to secondary levels, S3 to N5, N5/GCSE to Higher/A-level and AH. Also, I can support students to pass their undergraduate and masters courses mastering the harder subjects as I have done with my students.
I have experience in teaching electronics, maths and data analysis to master students at University of Edinburgh.
During my PhD I taught in undergraduate and masters in classrooms and labs, and I was a physics, mathematics, electromagnetism, optical and electronics tutor for first , second , third and 5th year, and masters in physics, engineering and science students at Edinburgh University, Heriot Watt University and Edinburgh Napier University and I have continued to support students entering University or College education where they need a boost in their engineering, physics and mathematics skills especially as they interface with the sciences.
I have experience in coaching physics , bio photonics, photonics and maths at advanced higher and for university students of Sciences , this is frequently an area where it can be helpful for students to have assistance where they may have little previous background and need mathematical reasoning skills for engineering of various types.
I find the coaching and mentoring aspects of tuition and the ability to address individual's concerns in detail, more satisfying than classroom teaching and so now focus on providing one to one tuition at both school and undergraduate level.
As an industrial and academic professional I have gained valuable experience that enables me to relate material to people of all ages and backgrounds. It has also taught me to self motivate which is a skill I try to instill in my own teaching style. Above all I try to make the sessions relaxing and to make sure I try to get the student to really understand the problem in the context of Mathematics and Physics as a whole, how the various parts link together and the overall logical reasoning behind the different techniques and ideas.
