I am currently working as a teacher and am in my mid-thirties. After a short time in industry, I started my teaching career a little over ten years ago, working both in grammar and state schools.
I have previously tutored both A level and GCSE Chemistry.
I am currently the Director of Science in a high achieving Girls Grammar School. I have previously been a Head of Science and a Head of Chemistry in another School.
I examine both a GCSE and A Level Chemistry for the exam boards AQA and OCR.
I have had experience either teaching, examining for or tutoring for all English exam boards.
My approach remain fairly similar regardless of whether I am tutoring online or in person.
Once it is established what we will be working on through discussion with the tutee, I will ask specific questions to gather an understanding of what the student already knows. This will normally involve some quick verbal responses and going through some question using a whiteboard. I'll then stop and explain new content as required for the particular student, normally by drawing on a whiteboard. Once I have explained new content I will ask questions to the student to check their understanding and give them problems to practice.
I produce by own booklet resources, an example of one of my A level booklets and one of my GCSE booklets can be seen in my resources section. These are provided to tutees to support their understanding between sessions and I may use questions from these booklets.
