History is my passion and fortunately, teaching it is my job! My passion for the subject has always been evident, and has helped many students to engage with the subjects being taught. Finding a hook that draws you in can help open up a subject...
I am an extremely experienced teacher and head of department who has successfully taught history in different schools for the last 20 years. In that time I have supported pupils from a variety of abilities to help them meet their potential. I also act as a regional adviser for a major historical association, supporting teachers, schools and offering teachers training.
I have been an examiner for different exam boards, offering valuable insight into what is needed to succeed. I have extensive knowledge to curriculum changes that have taken place over the past few years.
History should be enjoyable and my enthusiasm for the subject will help students to become excited and focused on the topic being studied. Tutoring should be a mixture of explanation of a topic, exploration of different ways to approach a type of question and detailed feedback explaining how you could improve an answer. Central to this, is the idea that a student needs to know clearly how to improve their work.
Feedback will be specific, focused and clear in identifying exactly how you can improve your work, so that you know exactly what YOU need to do to improve and get the best possible grade.
