Now for the slightly more boring part... a detailed profile of who I am and my qualifications are shown below.
I am a fully qualified (BSc, MSc, PGCE, and MRSC) GCSE Science (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics) and A-level Chemistry Teacher with over 10 years of teaching experience. Currently, I work as a full-time teacher and Lead Practitioner of Science (previously Head of Chemistry). My role as a Lead Practitioner recognises my commitment to outstanding teaching. It allows me the opportunity to train other teachers and set an example for excellent practice.
Availability: Wide flexibility for the new 2023/2024 academic year.
As an experienced teacher, I have a proven track record of delivering outstanding results in school and in private tutoring. For example, my GCSE triple science group achieved 91% A*-A grades (9 A*, 12 A, and 2B students), as highlighted in a recent school Ofsted report. My tutees have also secured outstanding results this year (2019) and evidence of this is available.
Furthermore, the advantage of being a current full-time Science Teacher is that it allows me to have access to a wide variety of resources and information on the new science curriculum. For example, I have full access to the exam board exam builder which allows me access to all exam questions for any topics within science. This is a huge advantage as it also provides me with detailed examiner comments for specific questions. I regularly use this resource for tutoring to help improve the confidence of my students.
My style of teaching involves the use of a variety of tasks such as PowerPoints, simple diagrams, and fill-in-the-gap activities to keep students engaged. I then build up to answering real exam questions and as a current outstanding teacher, I can guide your child through these questions. As a full-time teacher, my lessons have been judged outstanding by school leadership consistently which shows my dedication to teaching. Evidence of this can also be emailed to you upon request.
It is also important to be aware that the science curriculum has recently changed which means it is now more important than ever to select a tutor that is aware of these developments to ensure the best chance of success for your child. I have been at the forefront of developing new schemes of work for my school which gives me an excellent knowledge of the science curriculum to give your child the best possible chance.
Finally, I recently set up a GCSE/A-level science channel (AbukarScience) to help students with science topics as well as showcase interesting scientific experiments and projects.
