Hi I'm Maisie :)
I'm currently an undergraduate at the Glasgow School of Art studying painting and printmaking with around four years of tutoring experience. I love to learn and to help others find the joy and satisfaction possible in learning too!
I have around four years of tutoring experience. I have worked with students ranging from 9 to 16 years old on maths, English literature, 11+/ entrance exams, French language, exam, essay and study methods, confidence building, and general homework support (in families where English is not spoken at home).
Although I am not a native French speaker, I have been learning the language for over a decade and last year I spent 6 months living and studying in Paris. I have a confident conversation, reading and writing level equivalent to C1 CEFR. I have experience tutoring up to GCSE/ B1/ Scottish National 4/5 level.
My approach to tutoring is focused on building each students knowledge and confidence. I believe a bespoke teaching plan is necessary for each student as everyone comes to tutoring for different reasons. I typically suggest a short first meeting to establish your goals and talk through what kind of approach will be useful. While working to meet your aims I also believe the student's comfort and confidence is the most important and I always make space for questions and curiosity. I pride myself on being able to run fun, engaging and helpful lessons.
I create and provide all the necessary materials and exercises for each session and am happy to offer extra to be worked on between sessions if needed.
