I am a highly qualified and experienced specialist teacher and tutor of Chemistry and I have taught at several outstanding local Grammar Schools in Kent. I have over 20 years' experience of teaching and tutoring within both the State and Independent sector and I have taught Chemistry and Science at all levels, including undergraduate level. I am a Chemistry graduate and have a PhD in Analytical Biochemistry and a PGCE from the University of Bath. My aim is to enthuse and install confidence in all my students so that they enjoy Chemistry and achieve their full potential enabling them to achieve excellent results. I am available for tuition during the day on weekdays, after school and during the school holidays and will always strive to be as flexible as possible with timings to meet your requirements. Currently teaching online only but will also return to face to face tuition for local students in Kent in the future.
At the moment I am taking on A level students in Yr12, Yr 13 and GCSE students in Yrs 10 and 11.
I tutor Chemistry at KS3, GCSE, IB, Pre U, AS and A level and I also offer support and advice for students applying for University courses through UCAS. I strongly believe that it helps to have experienced this process both as a parent and a teacher. I will review and advise on personal statements and UCAS applications and I am also able to advise students with interview practice for Medicine, Dentistry and Oxbridge. Over the years I have helped numerous students to achieve the highest grades at GCSE and A level. Amongst my recent tutees (who I took on at the start of Year 13) are students who have progressed from a Grade D at AS to either an A*, A or B at A2, enabling them to study subjects including Veterinary Science, Medicine, Engineering and Biochemistry at their first choice Russell group Universities. I am particularly interested in SEN and have enjoyed tutoring students with a variety of SEN issues. Please have a read of my feedback from some of my previous students.
At the moment I am teaching online lessons via Zoom. I aim to make the online lessons as similar as possible to my face to face lessons and to date I have had very positive feedback from both my students and their parents alike.
I love teaching and tutoring Chemistry and find it particularly rewarding to help my tutees and pupils to achieve excellent results in what is considered to be a difficult subject. I tutor from my own home in Canterbury enabling me to use my wealth of resources to expand on any difficult areas during a session. I am available after school, weekends and during the school holidays. As I am a qualified teacher who is used to teaching high ability students in a grammar school environment, I am familiar with all the AQA, Edexcel and OCR specifications and I am ideally placed to give excellent advice on how to achieve the highest grades. I particularly concentrate on practising exam technique and have a wealth of practice questions, papers and exercises. I offer support and advice for students applying for University courses through UCAS and feel that it is an advantage that I have experienced this process both as an A level subject teacher, form tutor and mentor as well as a parent I will review and advise on personal statements and I am also able to help students with interview practice for Medicine, Dentistry and Oxbridge. I have been called an inspirational teacher by my students and have received excellent feedback from both parents and students. I am always available to give help and advice between sessions and I will always aim to make tutoring sessions enjoyable for you whatever your age or ability. I am happy to provide references and testimonials on request so please do not hesitate to contact me so that we can discuss your needs further and design an individual tutoring programme to suit your needs.
I look forward to hearing from you!
