Mandy
I am a Master of Education graduate (first class degree) and I have many years of experience both as a secondary school teacher and as a personal tutor. I have broad experience in providing tutoring across a range of subject areas and I enjoy teaching different subjects as I find that this experience allows me to draw connections between areas in inspiring ways.
With pride I look back to the previous academic year and I hope that my students receive equally positive results in August 2025.
Having studied English at uni for 5 years and having lived in England for 10 years, I am fluent in both written and spoken English.
Tutoring Experience
In German, I have taught both Edexcel and AQA (GCSE and A level), the old and the new specification. In maths, I have taught both Edexcel and iGCSE. I am familiar with the changes of the new specification. In Fine Art, I taught GCSE AQA new specification.
I have been working as a Maths, German, and/or Fine Art teacher for 5 years in schools supporting 5th and 6th form students, many of which were international students. I started working as a private tutor alongside my Bachelor and Master degree and have continued private tutoring ever since. My youngest students were 6 years old and my oldest student is 75 years old.
Tutoring Approach
I have been described as a 'people person' and my background in art helps me stay open to unique teaching methods and look at topics which are usually considered "dry" and boring in a more original and fun way.
I find it fulfilling to help my students to fill gaps in their knowledge and build confidence in approaching tasks on their own. I embrace that every single student has a different way of learning and it is exciting that each teaching year can be a very different experience.
